The all-volunteer Board of Directors has been working hard to invigorate the Anglers Club and make improvements to what we do and how we do it. We have a few new officers, our website has become more informational and current, we had a tremendously successful Bay Challenge fishing tournament, we have a modest surplus in our bank account, and we’ve added a third youth fishing event to our activities. Response to the member survey we did last year has helped guide us going forward.

* Dues will remain the same for 2020 and we’d love to see more people join the club, attend meetings, and attend monthly fishing events. We meet monthly at the Sage Diner in Onley on the second Monday of the month (7:30) except for July and August when there is no meeting. We usually have a guest speaker. We’ll be sending out a 2020 monthly fishing events date list with your membership renewal card, and it will be posted on our website.

* Regarding membership, we currently have over 200 members. Your dues, plus banquet auction receipts, donations, and grants, keep the club going. Membership is based on the calendar year, and it helps us plan if you join/renew early in the year, and also makes you eligible to participate in monthly fishing events, the banquet, the Bay Challenge, etc. You will soon be getting a membership/renewal form in the mail, along with annual banquet info.

* Please include your current email address on the member form. We are primarily communicating with members via email, especially when it comes to meeting notices, change of date notices, calls to action, etc. We do not provide our member list (and email addresses) to anyone other than the Virginia Saltwater Sportfishing Association (your ESVAC membership makes you also a member of VSSA), and VIMS (for the purpose of informing you about free lectures they have on fisheries topics). If your email address changes, please let us know so we can update our records.

* SAVE THIS BANQUET DATE: March 7, 2020. The banquet committee is planning this event now at a new location, with more spacious seating and some tweaks to the evening that will move things along better. More info to come on this soon.
